Beef from the hills
The event, organised by the SBA,
was held by kind permission of the Alexander family at Mains of Mause, Blairgowrie,
Perthshire. Peter and Murray Alexander run a suckler herd of 1000 Limousin
cross cows and a commercial flock of 2000 Blackface and Mule ewes extending
over four units.
With a tremendous display of
stands including animal health, handling equipment, and many breed societies
there was a great display to capture the interest of many beef farmers.
Visitors to the stand came from the length and breadth of Scotland from the
Borders to Orkney. The farm tour in particular saw farmers queue through the
day for the hour long trip round the immaculately turned out Mains of
With producers more and more
aware of trace elements and efficiencies bolus enquiries came in a steady
stream throughout the day. There was much interest in the Smalltrace Calf and
Smartrace Cattle in particular as farmers look to get calves off to the best
possible start then moving on to the single dose easily administered Smartrace
to cover the crucial bulling and calving periods.
Yet again our new 24.7 Smartrace for Lamb Bolus pop
up stopped farmers in their tracks with many enquiries and great interest in
this new product. There would appear to be very few systems this new product
won’t fit and few farmers who wouldn’t see the benefit of this 120 day supply
of Se, Co and I.
It was good to catch up with
many of our distributors who either had stands too or who were just there for
the day, including Harbro, Davidsons Veterinary Supplies and Carrs Billington.
Thank you to all that visited Agrimin's stand and also to the Alexander family for holding the event.
