Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers Bolusing demo

Agrimin in association with Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers recently held a Lamb Bolusing Demo at Maesyfelin, Hebron, Pembrokeshire with kind permission from the Williams family.

Over 50 farmers attended a presentation on the importance of trace elements to growing lambs followed by a practical demo where they were invited to bolus lambs with the new 24·7 Smartrace lamb bolus.

Ieuan Davies, Welsh Sales Manager for Agrimin who presented at the event and also performed the demo said ‘It is encouraging that so many local sheep farmers attended the event to learn about the importance of trace elements in growing lambs and their effects on growth and profit.  It appears that in this region as in so many other areas of Wales there seems to be a drop off in trace element status in lambs just before but mostly after weaning when the animal is stressed by the weaning process and also loses the benefits of trace element supplementation via its mother’s milk. An adequate daily supply of trace elements is vital to ensure healthy lambs and good growth therefore maximising a lamb’s performance and value and of course the farmer’s profit.
