Demo day at Riverview farm St Mellion Saltash with Calweton Vet Group

Thursday 30th July 2015

On Thursday 30th July Agrimin were invited by Calweton vets to attend farm demo day at Riverview Farm, St Mellion, Saltash, Cornwall. Attending were Ben Millar, Agrimin’s South West Sales Manager and Ieuan Davies Wales Sales Manager. The day was focused around the factors influencing flock fertility and ensuring your sheep are in top condition for tupping. The morning consisted of two presentations, firstly from Calweton vets who discussed factors affect flock fertility and importance of condition scoring your ewes. The second presentation was from Agrimin who discussed the importance of trace elements in your breeding flock and how targeted bolusing can improve your flock’s performance. These presentations prompted a series of quality questions from a very responsive group of farmers.

The afternoon began after a pasty lunch with a ‘best practise bolusing demonstration’ on eighty breeding ewes and four tups. It was great to see a series of farmers both Male and Female getting involved and trying bolusing for the first time. It was pleasing to hear that everyone found bolusing a very simple process to carry out and very practical way to insure that those animals trace element requirements were meet. The day was brought to a close by Bryony from Calweton vets who went through the importance of Ram MOT’s and demonstrated how to carry out such tup checks.

Agrimin wish to thank Tom for kindly hosting the event and also to Bryony and Calweton vets for the chance to meet their valued customers
